31MM – Festoon base LED bulbs from HKP™ replace old power hungry incandescent bulbs in many applications including your license plates, interior map/dome lights and more! These 31mm LED festoon bulbs feature high powered 5050 SMD LED chips on a passive cooled PCB board to keep the LED chips from overheating as you would find in an enclosed bulb.
Installation – We’ve made it easy! Each LED bulb features built-in current limiting resistors which enables a clean and easy plug-and-play installation. Note that these and many other LED bulbs are polarity sensitive meaning if the bulb does not turn on when first installed, simply remove the bulb, turn it 180 degrees and reinstall. Direct replacement for your incandescent festoon application on your car, truck or SUV. Most LED’s can be used one size up or down; 31mm fits into 32mm, 41mm for 42mm and so on.
5050 Chip – The 5050 LED chip was one of the first few surface mounted chips to emerge in the automotive lighting industry and has been around for the longest. This is allows us to produce these bulbs at a significantly lower price from newer chip styled bulbs and gets its name simply from its dimensions; 50 x 50 mm. Each 5050 SMD LED chip produces approximately 18 lumens per diode.
Options – Color options can get confusing, especially with so many variations of the same color, we get it. We offer 3 different shades of white (warm white, pure white and cool white) as well as various other colors. A pure white is going to give off no yellow and no blue, simply a pure bright white output matching closest to a 5000k HID bulb. A cool white bulb will provide a slight hue of blue as you would see generally on a newer Audi and will match closest to a 6000k HID bulb. Warm white provides the most amount of light output with a more yellow output closest to a factory halogen/incandescent or 4300k HID bulb. We strongly recommend matching the LED color with the color of the lens it will be going behind to avoid any wash out of colors.
Lifetime – LED bulbs are created to outlast any halogen or incandescent bulb out there with a rated 50,000+ hour lifespan, you wont need to replace these bad boys in your lifetime! There is no physical filament inside the bulb so not only do they stay cool but you can touch the bulbs without worrying about getting oils from your fingers on the bulbs. Each 31mm 5050 SMD LED festoon contains a total of 4 grade ‘A’ chips giving you a mind blowing 70+ total usable lumens of light output, that’s over 2 times the amount of a standard incandescent bulb.
