Lucky You: The S50 and S52 are sweethearts. What isn’t sweet is those whack halogen projectors that leave you in the dark at night. Fortunately, the Morimoto Retro-Quik system is designed as a direct bolt-on upgrade for a big performance boost inside the headlights on all E36s with DJ Auto / DEPO Ellipsoid-style housings.

 

Bi-Xenon Projectors: The most refined version of Morimoto’s very first bi-xenon projector, and it shows in their picture perfect light output. They use Morimoto’s Kuria optic clear lenses to give them a wide, intense beam pattern with a sharp and colorful cutoff line. The 3.0 version is optimized with a multi-faceted reflector bowl, curved cutoff shield, and the biggest, most reliable bi-xenon solenoid on the business. The FX-R is the biggest Morimoto projector but man are they worth it! As the biggest Morimoto distributor in North America, all projectors are tuned to perfection here in our shop.

 

Mounting Hardware: 100% Engineered in the US. Laser cut from automotive-grade G10 fiberglass. The Retro-Quik brackets at the heart of the kit are designed to adapt the Morimoto FX-R Bi-xenon projectors directly in place of the unsophisticated stock units. Using the original mounting holes paired with new hardware, they are the beauty behind the kit that makes it an easy install. You’re welcome.

 

Optional Morimoto XB Ballasts: Feature relocated igniters like OEM ballasts putting them far closer to the HID bulb. The lack of high voltage transmitted through wiring drastically reduces EMI/RFI (radio interference). Total system reliability is also improved by shielding the main circuit board from the static produced by these high voltage bursts on start up giving them a failure rate of less than .02%! Ballasts can be found and added here.

 

Optional Morimoto XB D2S Bulbs: At the heart of the XB D2S bulbs is their perfectly aligned 100% Philips Quartz glass that houses a capsule from APL-USA. Using high quality halide salts from German-supplier Messer; the bulbs produce nearly the same luminosity (intensity) as the amazing Osram CBI bulbs at 5500K. No, you’re not seeing things here, but yes you will be seeing everything at night; bulbs can be added here.

 

Optional Standalone Can-Bus Harness: replaces the relayed battery harness with two individual sub harnesses. Recommended for vehicles that recognize when a bulb is out, these contain a series of capacitors and resistors to trick the car into thinking nothing has changed and help you avoid annoying “bulb out” warnings. Great for many modern Euro and Domestic applications, can be added here.
