Why an LED Headlight Conversion Kit Makes Sense

Why an LED Headlight Conversion Kit Makes Sense

If you’re still driving around with the same stock halogen lights in your car or truck and have been hearing about LED headlight conversion kits, it might just be time for you to stop hearing and start actively researching.

For those of you getting tired of replacing your halogen headlights every few years (if not more frequently) LED headlight conversion kits represent a substantial upgrade in terms of performance and longevity.

Here’s what you need to know.

Superior Light Output

Your average stock halogen automotive headlight bulb produces somewhere around 3,000 lumens of light output.

That’s not so bad until you compare it to an LED replacement. There’s no other way to put it: quality LED headlights are usually brighter.

Some can be as bright as 10,000 lumens, but even your average LED replacement, such as the bulbs featured via the previous link, throws 4,500 lumens on the low beams and 6,000 lumens on the high beams.

This, of course, makes it easier to see at night, which improves safety on (and off) the road, as well.

High Reliability, No Startup Delay

One of the most irritating things about halogen lights is that they don’t reach their full brightness immediately, which is even more noticeable in extremely cold temperatures. Switch on the halogens in the cold and they’re dim for a few seconds (if not longer) before coming up to their peak brightness.

With an LED headlight conversion kit, this annoyance, however minor, will be a thing of the past. LED lights reach their peak brightness almost immediately, even in extreme heat and cold.

Far Longer Lifespan

If there’s one thing about automotive LED headlight bulb replacements that takes the cake, it’s lifespan.

Take a high-quality halogen headlight as an example. Particularly long lasting halogens will last around 3,000 hours on the low end and 5,000 on the high end. Adverse driving conditions can shorten lifespan, too, so keep that in mind.

LEDs simply blow this longevity out of the water. Many of our LED replacements are rated to last 50,000 hours – ten times as long – and some LED replacements can last nearly 100,000.

In some instances, LED replacement bulbs will outlast the life of the vehicle. They really are the last headlight replacements you will ever (probably) have to make.

They’re the Green Option

Most LEDs are made with simple semiconductor and epoxy resin raw materials. Some can even be recycled, but even so, with a 50,000-hour lifespan, don’t expect to have to throw them away frequently. They make less clutter than halogen and incandescent bulbs, which makes them better for the environment.

Energy-Efficient; Less Taxing on Your Electrical System

Speaking of environmental friendliness, LED headlights draw a tiny fraction of the power of halogen bulbs, which is less taxing on your battery, making them better for the environment in that manner, too.

They’re Tougher

Not that it is a big concern with automotive headlights, but LEDs are SSLs, or solid-state lights. They don’t have a “bulb” in the traditional sense of the word “lightbulb,” which makes them shatter and vibration resistant, unlike halogen bulbs.

Modern LEDs Offer Variety in Color Temperature

Some drivers actually appreciate the cool white light color temperature associated with most halogen bulbs, which is fine, as many LED replacements match that, with a color temperature around 6000K.

But, with that said, there are other LED headlight replacements that are available in a range of color temperatures, so if that extremely cool white isn’t for you, look at your options in LEDs.

It’s Easy to Make the Upgrade with an LED Headlight Conversion Kit

Last but not least, one of the most attractive aspects of modern LED headlight conversion kits is that making the upgrade is easy and you don’t need to be an automotive mechanic or electrical engineer to do it.

In fact, some of our conversion kits are plug-and-play, which means the bulb will work with your existing assembly/electrical infrastructure, with no modifications necessary. Simply remove the old bulb, plug in the new one, and you are good to go.

We also sell sealed beam LED conversion kits, which are necessary if the bulb and headlight assembly are inseparable and must be replaced together.

Either way, we carry the LED replacements and headlight assemblies necessary to upgrade your vehicle and enjoy the benefits of automotive LED replacements.

Don’t Stop There: Upgrade to Other Automotive LED Replacements

If these benefits sound appealing, it’s because they are, and they’re not restricted to LED headlights.

You can also replace your taillights, brake lights, turn signals, fog lights, license plate lamps, and even your interior automotive bulbs such as T10 lights with LED replacements that are longer lasting, more reliable, and easy to install.
