The key component of all HID ballasts are the “controller” which controls all functions from the initial ignition to continually ensuring the xenon gas inside the bulb stays ignited. The quality of every ballast starts with the controller inside.
There are two types of controllers used inside an HID ballast:
1. CPU Controller: All HID ballasts made in China or Taiwan use a CPU programming controller, the program is easy to copy, and the machine to create them can cost about $3,000 to buy, therefore any engineer could make a ballast in his living-room. With that, many are rapidly creating low quality ballasts and offering a very cheap price in order to earn more profit. A CPU controller cannot monitor the HID lamp (lamp power continually changes), and the lamp power does not properly correspond with the CPU program and ends up burning out the ballast. The defect rate is much higher and the ballast life is short with a CPU controlled ballast system.
2. ASIC Controller: HYLUX’s ballast uses an ASIC chip controller which is created the same way HELLA & Matsushita manufacture their ballasts. An ASIC chip is difficult to design and in turn comes with an expensive price tag. HYLUX spent nearly $600,000 to develop the chip which is made with powerful components of real-time lamp-monitoring & power compensation with full-time ballast protection circuitry. HYLUX now manufactures and produces ballasts for top names in lighting from Philips to Matsushita with the highest quality components. These were the only ballasts that would work on my 2013 ram low beams, I was skeptical after already going through so many other companies but they guaranteed these would work or my money back and sure enough they are still going strong.

great deal on genuine hylux ballasts. only place that I could find that carry the newest style with the grounding wire, others are still using the old style which can cause radio interference, i know becauseI tried them!

Installed in the wifes mercedes after using a bunch of ebay junk, was told these are the best (better be because they were the most expensive) and they sure are. built well, feel solid and heavy duty and they perform well. waited a few years before posting a review because it seemed ballasts only last that long, these have been rock solid. turn on every time and perform well.

Finally found ballasts that would work without giving me errors half the time. other ballasts state they are "canbus" but none worked so i was skeptical at first but was assured theses would work. thanks for the awesome services, fast shipping and even better products, customers for life!
